The Louisville Energy Alliance has partnered with Louisville Metro Government, the Kentucky Department for Energy Development and Independence (DEDI), International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), and the U.S. EPA’s ENERGY STAR program to connect businesses with an abundance of tools and information to help reduce energy consumption.
Kentucky Energy Generation and Usage
The Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet's Department for Energy Development and Independence (DEDI) gave a presentation on March 22, 2017, at the Kilowatt Crackdown Awards Luncheon. The presentation covered the change in fuels used to generate electricity over time in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, a time analysis of electricity consumption by sector, commercial energy expenditures, various resources to assist commercial entities with energy savings, and more.

ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager Tool helps energy managers and building owners track and evaluate their facility’s energy and water consumption over time. Viewing consumption data in this format helps building owners find inefficiencies that need to be fixed and see the results of energy-saving efforts. Using Portfolio Manager is the first step towards achieving ENERGY STAR Certification.
ENERGY STAR’s Target Finder helps building owners and designers estimate the energy consumption of a new commercial building design. Users can also select a goal — either an Energy Star score or an energy reduction target — and Target Finder will tell you what annual energy use to aim for to reach your goal.
Energy Star Certification
Facilities that perform in the top 25% of peer building types, receiving a minimum score of 75/100, are eligible to receive ENERGY STAR Certification – a recognition program for commercial and industrial structures.
